Puppy Bowl 2022: On Sunday, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be looking to win his first Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Odell Barkham will be looking to lead Team Ruff to victory in the Puppy Bowl, which will be back for the 18th consecutive year.
In 2005, the Puppy Bowl became a Super Bowl Sunday tradition, with Animal Planet airing a “football game” that features two teams of dogs going head-to-head. Of course, the show mostly centers on adorable puppies playing with toys, although there is a football theme to it.
Martha Stewart (Team Ruff) and Snoop Dogg (Team Fluff) are back as this year’s Puppy Bowl coaches. And midway through the broadcast, there will again be a “Kitty Halftime Show” for cat lovers who are tuned into the broadcast.

Puppy Bowl 2022 Preview
There will be more than 100 dogs participating in this year’s Puppy Bowl, which showcases animals from shelters to raise awareness. The dogs will come from 67 shelters across 33 states.
Before the Puppy Bowl kicks off, there will be a one-hour pregame show at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. That broadcast will feature sportscasters Rodt Weiler, Sheena Inu and James Hound, as well as field reporters Mini Pinscher and Greta Dane.
The Puppy Bowl broadcast, which will be three hours long, will feature ESPN’s Steve Levy and Turner Sports’ Taylor Rooks on the call. Dan Schachner will be serving as the game’s official/ruff-eree.
Many people will be tuning in to Super Bowl LVI later on Sunday night, and those who do will see what should be an entertaining halftime show. Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar are coming together for a performance at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
But Snoop Dogg is part of the Puppy Bowl again this year, as he’ll be captaining Team Fluff.
“I’m honored to be co-hosting the only sporting event on the planet guaranteed to raise the ‘woof’, with the magnificent Martha Stewart!” the rapper said, per Discovery.com.
While much of Puppy Bowl XVIII will feel similar to recent years, there is one new addition. For the first time, there will be Puppy Bowl NFTs. These digital trading cards will feature Puppy Bowl designs, and some of the proceeds will go to Orange Twins Rescue.

Among the 118 dogs that will be featured in the Puppy Bowl, there are nine that are special-needs pets. That includes Irwin, a three-legged American pit bull terrier/chihuahua, and Ridley, a border collie that is deaf and visually impaired.
By the time the Puppy Bowl is over, either Team Fluff or Team Ruff will have won the Lombarky Trophy. And there’s still no better way to kick off Super Bowl Sunday than watching some dogs play their version of the big game.
